Field Report · Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida August 2026 report, published

What We Saw This Month

  • Humidity issues and indoor air quality concerns
  • Over current and under current problems with circuit boards during thunderstorm activity
  • A new high velocity project on Davis Islands in South Tampa
  • New commercial clients in Sarasota County

Storm Season Was Hard on Equipment

Heavy rains and thunderstorms moved through Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida throughout August. Our technicians saw a lot of over current and under current issues with circuit boards during this stretch of thunderstorm activity.

Circuit boards control when your system turns on, when the fan runs, and when the outdoor unit starts. When power surges or drops during a storm, those boards can be damaged and the system may stop working or behave in ways that do not make sense.

If your system will not start after a storm, check your thermostat and breaker first. If the breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and call for service instead of resetting it repeatedly.

Humidity and Indoor Air Quality

Humid weather kept systems running long hours, and we answered a lot of questions about humidity and indoor air quality. One common issue was drain lines backing up. Read our customer question on why your drain line needs a trap to learn more.

Before Photos From the Field

Dirty ductwork and coil leaks are two problems our team runs into often. In Nokomis, we found ductwork with heavy buildup behind the supply vent. Our air duct cleaning service is built for situations like this.

In Gulfport, we found a condenser coil leak on an outdoor unit. A coil leak lets refrigerant escape, which reduces cooling and makes the system run longer to keep up.

Commercial Work Across Southwest Florida

We are seeing a lot of new commercial clients in Sarasota County taking advantage of our excellent pricing.

Our team also worked on a commercial package unit at the Ellenton outlet mall this month. A package unit holds the main heating and cooling components in a single cabinet, which is why you often see them on commercial rooftops.

A New High Velocity Project on Davis Islands

We started a new high velocity project on Davis Islands in South Tampa. High velocity systems use small, flexible supply lines and compact outlets, which makes them a good fit for homes where traditional ductwork is hard to install.

Featured Repair of the Month

Our featured repair this month took place in Tampa, where a homeowner had been quoted $7,500 for a new compressor. Read how a loose wire and a dirty condenser coil turned out to be the real problem in A $7,500 Compressor Quote Turned Into a Simple Repair in Tampa.
